The craving for a 90’s summer is in full swing and we’re taking that inspiration into creating a whimsical backyard birthday party for our 8 year old daughter. My daughter loves a little whimsy and a backyard party in the summer is the perfect combination. We wanted it to feel effortless regardless of all the effort that indeed was put into it.

We’re talking grilling, plaid tablecloths thrown on tables, waterslide bounce house and an effortlessly looking tablescape for a buffet style dining.

Fresh flowers as a centerpiece are my all time favorite, because after the party they’re a sweet little reminder of joyous celebration.

We absolutely adore Inflate Clarksville + Nashville! We used them for Cash’s 5th birthday party. They’re a small family owned business and we love to support local where we can!

One thing I always think about is what do THE PARENTS want to eat at the birthday party? Have you ever noticed it’s like pulling teeth trying to get your kids to eat when they’re just so excited to be running around with friends? Of course we always have kid friendly options like grilled hot dogs and mini sliders. We also had a kale pasta salad, charcuterie board, chips and salsa, fruit and veggie platter.

I loved her birthday invite, it was like the launching point for the whole party inspiration. I found a free template on Canva and just edited it to my party specifics and colors! Linking it here so you can also use it too.

One thing I’ve started doing is investing in party supplies knowing we have 3 kids, I see lots of parties in our future. The gingham table clothes have been used on numerous occasions already! Including the smaller personal bounce house our kids can’t get enough of.
Her birthday falls during the last week before summer vacation ends and we’re all back on our school routines. We treated Liv’s birthday as send off to summer and I think it’s the best way to celebrate our growing girl!
All in favor or bringing back 90s summer birthday parties!
