We love a good themed birthday and when Cash said he wanted to have a LEGO-themed 6th birthday party the answer was a resounding, YES! His birthday falls on the first week of November and we are full swing into fall activities. Last year, we did a Halloween Carnival themed birthday party for him. He invited 8 boys over for a “Lego good time.”

How to Make Life-sized Lego’s From Cardboard Boxes

Believe it or not I saved trash for a few months to be able to decorate for Cash’s birthday. I saw someone spray paint boxes to look like Lego’s and got the idea to do something similar sans spray paint.

I got the idea walking midway down the aisle at the dollar store while looking for something else entirely. The disposable party supplies were lining the wall and it was ll coordinated with matching plates and I got the idea to wrap the boxes like presents in disposable tablecloths and taping matching plates on top to mimic the famous lego bricks.

I grabbed 6 tablecloth colors with matching plates and a few extra plates for something fun!

I didn’t have enough cardboard boxes to decorate our entire house and decided to put plates on the furniture and walls for it to feel like a giant life-sized lego and the walls act like the base plates.
We have this giant black craft cabinet in the dining room and I put black plates on it with wall putty. The wall putty works wonders on furniture and the walls so it doesn’t mess up the paint with tape!

I made a lego number 6 for Cash’s 6th birthday with a wooden 6 and 2″ discs glued to the number to give it the raised lego look.

Cash actually kept the 6 and was so proud he helped me make it and has it displayed in his room!
Lego Themed Birthday Party Activities
I grabbed 8 lego base plates and poured the pack of legos into a thrifted caddy for the boys to make their own lego creations.
I also used a large yellow lego storage box we had as decor which also housed more legos in case we had run out of them for the party!

We also did, decorate your own mini-figure to take home which was fun! I made a free mini-figure coloring sheet printable you can use here.

The invitations were so fun and I made them on Canva! You can plug and play with your own text to use for your own Lego party if you want here. I did change it up a little, so if you want the exact invitation I made just let me know!

Overall the party was a huge success and my son loved all the Lego details we incorporated into the party decorations! I honestly didn’t buy much since we have so many legos, I used them as part of the decor.

A friend’s mom on Cash’s soccer team makes custom cookies locally and when we can support local we try to! I asked Kam’s Cookie Treats to make a lego inspired sugar cookies: the number 6 as a lego, a mini-figure lego head and a mini-figure lego head that looked like my son! She did fantastic and they also tasted amazing.

I found these lego candles and popped a bunch of his favorite lego guys on and around the cake which he thought was so cool.

Treats and simple easy family style Italian dinner for all! We did pasta with red sauce, sausage and peppers, garlic bread and Cesar salad. I always say make it easy and make sure the parents like it too. Because most of the time the kids are running around with their friends and too excited to sit down and eat.

We did little goodie bags with practical fun things for each kid: lego key chain, Annies fruit snacks, a mini-figure lego sugar cookie and hot wheels car.

This was such a fun and low-key birthday party for Cash and I love how you know what his interests are based on the theme for his birthday party. You can find everything we used for his birthday party here!

I love intimate birthday parties for our boys during busier times of the year especially when they all love a good theme, like this LEGO themed birthday party!
