As many of you know we are a military family and I’m always open about the lifestyle we live. My grandfather and extended family were in the military and my husband has been in the military for 10 years now. Holy cow! Here’s a few photos of my grandfather when he served in the 60’s (he’s on the left in the 1st photo and second to left in 2nd photo).

I couldn’t be more excited and proud to partner with The Home Depot Foundation to share about their project, Operation Surprise.

What is Operation Surprise?

The Home Depot Foundation is saluting our service members this Veterans Day by surprising them with life-changing moments and memories. Team Depot is on a mission to make a difference through #OperationSurprise.

The Home Depot Foundation is taking things to another level, y’all! They want to give back to those who have served by surprising a veteran with $25,000 in home repairs! Say, what?! How insanely awesome is that? Our veterans do so much for us and our country and I am so excited to partner with such an amazing company that wants to give back to those that are most deserving.

We purchased our first home in September of 2016 when we PCS’d to Tennessee. Since then, we have been updating every inch of our house to make it a home. We know how expensive home repairs can be, so getting a little extra help is incredible in any shape or form.

How to Nominate a Deserving Veteran

So let’s get to the goods – here’s how you can help! Operation Surprise is contest anybody can enter. From September 19th through Monday, November 11th (Veterans Day) The Home Depot Foundation wants YOU to nominate a deserving veteran! We all know a deserving veteran whether its a parent, grandparent, friend or coworker in your life that has served and is in need of home repairs. Now’s your chance to give back to those veterans that have given so much to us!

To nominate a deserving veteran, visit HomeDepotFoundation.org and enter the requested information. It’s super easy! You have from now through Veterans Day (November 11th) to do so!

On Veterans Day, The Home Depot Foundation will announce the winner. Join the mission by using #OperationSurprise.

Although we didn’t get the chance to head to Atlanta, GA to help out with the Operation Surprise event put on by The Home Depot Foundation, due to baby #2 making their arrival any day now, we are so excited to be able to support from afar.

Why We Support The Home Depot Foundation

Did you know that 35,000 of Home Depot’s associates are veterans or active duty military?! Being a military spouse I love supporting businesses that support our veterans. Since veterans are such a huge part of Home Depot’s company culture they understand the importance of honoring and serving those who have served us all. Since 2011, the Foundation has invested more than $315 million in veteran causes and improved more than 45,000 veteran homes and facilities in 4,300 cities. In 2018, the Foundation pledged an additional $250 million to veteran causes taking the total commitment to half a billion by 2025.

Don’t forget to nominate your deserving veteran this Veterans Day! I know who I’m nominating 😉
