DIY Wood Slice Ornaments
My favorite part of the holiday’s is decorating the Christmas Tree. What better way to decorate the tree with DIY Wood Slice Ornaments?! As a child I received ornaments every year on Christmas to one day decorate my own tree. Now my husband and I carry on that tradition and get each other ornaments for Christmas. Each one of these ornaments on our tree carry a special place in my heart, especially these DIY Wood Slice Ornaments!
Picking out the perfect ornament for Baby’s First Christmas is so hard. There was something about every single ornament that I just wasn’t sure about. I wanted Livvie’s first Christmas ornament to be special for her and what’s better than handmade by momma?
HOW TO MAKE YOUR WOOD SLICE ORNAMENTS :
STEP 1 : Make sure you have all the supplies and colors you want for the project! The worst thing is to have to make a craft store trip in the middle of a project.
STEP 2 : Start with your base color, I used Craft Smart Vanilla. Make sure you use enough paint to cover all the darker pieces of the wood for an even color. I have two here, because it’s also our puppies first Christmas!
STEP 3 : I highly suggest using a pencil to draw out the design to your exact specifications. I did a little doodling on my craft paper to decide what font I wanted Liv’s name to be in. Good thing I didn’t free hand the design with paint, because I chose the 3rd version of her name!
STEP 4 : Make sure your paint brushes are thin enough for this project! I used two paint brushes for the garland and her name and a tooth pick for the “First Christmas 2017.”
STEP 5 : Once the paint is dry use a Sharpie or Pencil and decide where you want the hole to go for hanging. The wood slice isn’t a perfect circle and the hole wasn’t centered on mine. I just chose the best place for it!
STEP 6 : Insert the twine through the hole and tie a knot! Make sure you cut it longer than you want, you can always cut off the extra.
STEP 7 : Hang on the tree!

Hi Emily!
Thank you so much. We definitely weren’t fans of the standard so it was fun to make something for her 🙂
