The New Flooring Color We Chose

A few weeks ago we shared the flooring samples that we are looking at to replace our flooring and we’ve finally landed on a flooring selection! We’ve already placed the order so no turning back on color selections now, lol.

We found out there was terrazzo underneath the tile we started removing in our home. We ended up breaking hearts instead of breaking the bank as we move forward with laying new flooring over terrazzo instead of restoration. Restoration comes at a huge cost for terrazzo and doesn’t always turn out the way you expect it to. It’s a process that’s not guaranteed and for the amount of money you spend on restoration, $8K-$20K it’s just not in our budget to even entertain the idea.

We have budgeted for our entire renovation and if we were to take on restoration that would mean we don’t get to remodel a bathroom or laundry room, etc. It’s the same concept I always see on HGTV with Love It or List It – the original. It always seems like the budget runs out and they’re never able to complete all the renovation items on their checklist.

Now that we’ve all had a chance to swallow that pill, here’s the samples we chose from! Cody and I narrowed it down to these 6 samples initially and we moved them into all the rooms and looking at the full flooring sample laid out online and did a bunch of tests to see which one didn’t show ALL the dirt and dust.

A) Granby Scraped Hickory (Top Left)
B) Biscuit Oak (Top Middle)
C) Dayglow Golden Oak (Top Right)
D) Rustic Clay Pine (Bottom Left)
E) Winter Mist Pine (Bottom Middle)
F) Nantucket Buff Oak (Bottom Right)

These are all @pergofloors samples from their new PergoDefense+ Laminate color line that just came out! We decided to go with a white oak looking sample and something that wasn’t so light it looked yellow. We went with Biscuit Oak!

Easy Halloween Doormat

We aren’t huge halloween decorators over here but we love a “punny” doormat and this one we made a few years ago still makes me giggle! It was an easy DIY doormat for around $15.

This guy ended up getting scooped up at one of our moving yard sales, so I’m thinking we’ll have to make another one this year!

plain coir door mat, alphabet stencils, stencil sponges, outdoor paint, faux pumpkins, diy halloween door mat, diy door mat, paper craft bats, modern halloween decor, halloween front porch
