Thanksgiving Tablescapes and Traditions

Remember your parents asking you to set the table for dinner and you’d just cringe and sulk over to the table with all the plates and silverware? One of my favorite things to do is set the table for dinner parties, especially Thanksgiving. It’s like all of the things you hated to do as a child are now your hobbies! I’ve partnered with Wayfair.com to share our Thanksgiving Tablesacpe and Traditions this holiday season.

Our family’s love of Thanksgiving runs deep, we love sharing our own traditions with others we welcome as our family home away from home. With my husband being in the military we tend to move wherever his job takes him and it’s taken us to the east coast away from all of our family on the west coast. Traveling is expensive during the holiday’s so we’ve opted to stay home for Thanksgiving and start some of our own traditions together over the past few years.

I know everyone is familiar with Friendsgiving and it has a whole new meaning for us these days. We host a Friendsgiving at our home on Thanksgiving Day and invite other military families and friends that aren’t able to go home for the holidays. We ask each person to bring their favorite family dish so everyone has a little piece of home with them on this special day.

The military has a funny way of bringing you extremely close to people in a short amount of time. I always say, Love hard and deep because you never now when they’ll be leaving.

This thanksgiving I opted for fresh greenery and flowers with pops of orange and ivory from our local grocery store. I wanted a natural centerpiece with lots of volume! So, I used an upside down flower box I built a few years ago as the base for the centerpiece.

I used tangerines and a sprig of eucalyptus to compliment the thankful place cards at each place setting. The new Magnolia line, Hearth & Home, had the perfect cloth striped napkins that ended up being the base of my whole Thanksgiving Tablesacpe Design.

When it came to chargers, I had the hardest time finding some that would work for any holiday and weren’t going to break the bank. Instead of purchasing chargers I decided to use butcher paper I had for wrapping and it turned out perfect. Especially since it was  free! Who doesn’t love free stuff?
