Let’s address the elephant in the room, this is not your average toddler bedroom. Every room in our home is designed with intention and I really wanted Liv’s Big Girl bedroom to embody the rest of our home. So we decided to go for a Modern Vintage Toddler Bedroom with some thrifted pieces coupled with great statement pieces from HomeDepot.com that will last for years to come.

The Many Before Phases of Liv’s Bedroom

This room has seen many design phases, y’all! Let’s take stroll down memory lane shall we? Before we moved in this room was pink with a 4-post queen size bed a clunky dresser that didn’t fit in here.

Since, moving in we turned this bedroom into a nursery for our sweet baby girl, Liv!

Liv’s bedroom is attached to a jack and Jill bathroom that connects to our guest room which is now Cash’s Nursery. Here’s where things took a sharp turn! We swapped Liv’s crib with the old guest bed and started repurposing her nursery stuff elsewhere in the house. Liv’s adorable nursery turned into this some form of a miss-mosh nursery.

My overall design for Liv’s new big girl bedroom was to mix moody design with functionality to turn Liv’s “mish-mosh” nursery into your not so ordinary big girl bedroom.

Liv’s Toddler Bedroom Reveal

Welcome to Liv’s Modern Vintage Toddler Bedroom Reveal, it has a mix of eclectic, modern and timeless pieces. We’ve paired old with new and I always feel like that’s the best way to create a space.

We kept quite a few sentimental pieces from her nursery days, but the statement pieces  we scooped up from HomeDepot.com/decor are the perfect pieces to last for years to come. If you caught my stories you know I wanted to create a space that would mimic the rest of the design throughout our home. I picked out the Warrenton Riverbed Taupe Upholstered Twin Bed with Channel Tufting that will last her through her teen years well into the day she drives off to college (I’m not crying, you’re crying).

Let’s chat about all of that goodness on the bed for a sec, ALL from HomeDepot.com/decor too! I know, I know. I surprised myself too! We got Liv a twin mattress, sheet protector, linens, duvet and those adorable throw pillows. Bet ya didn’t know Home Depot carries all of these goodies online?

I love the look of an oversized fluffy duvet on a bed, so we went with the Vintage Washed Cotton Percale 3-Piece Full/Queen Duvet Cover Set in White and the Home Decorators Collection Medium Weight Down White Cotton Full/Queen Comforter. We did stick to the twin sheets and scooped up these matching Vintage Washed Cotton Percale 3-Piece Twin Sheet Set in White from the same collection. I know, white for a kids room – you crazy! Actually, it’s genius. You see getting a stain out of white is easier than color since you can bleach it! Boom. You’re welcome for that tad-bit of knowledge my friends.

We swapped out her old dresser for this Newford Walnut Finish 7 Drawer Dresser with Diamond Detail (66 in W. X 36 in H.) that goes great in the space. The walnut color ties in great with the walnut legs on the bed and the dark pop of the rug.

Speaking of rugs we went with this Persian Classics Mahal Black 7 ft. x 10 ft. Area Rug from HomeDepot.com. Dark and moody for those messy kiddos, we are golden for spills and accidents galore!

We opted for these Home Decorators Collection Haze Finish Wood Accent Tables (Set of 2) nesting tables to use as nightstands since we didn’t have much room with the layout for anything substantial. These worked out perfect for holding her books, water, and favorite toy cars.

We of course you can’t forget toy storage, cue the basket queen. I love me some good seagrass baskets for stuffy’s, blocks, dirty clothes hamper. Basically, anything that can be put in a basket will be put in a basket – I assure you! We went with these Rounded Hand Woven Wicker Seagrass Striped Medium Basket with Handles that compliments the design with the room.

For the most part we kept a lot of her nursery wall decor, but we did switch up the children art for some Gallery 16×20 matted to 8×10 Black Picture Frame Set of 2. I framed some photos in black and white I took years ago during Liv’s first cross country road trip to California for Christmas when she was about 4 1/2 months old.

Y’all this space turned out better than I could have ever imaged! Kids can have beautiful spaces too and I hope this inspires you to create something both you and your kiddos love. Be sure to check out homedepot.com/decor for some amazing pieces and to scoop up all of these great finds and more!
