It’s official. We’ve finally started the remodel on our master bathroom. If you watched my stories on Instagram this past weekend you saw that we started demo on our master bathroom remodel. I took a pole a few months ago about weekly updates vs. grand reveal, and for the most part everyone wanted to see the master bathroom remodel as it evolved. I’ve been a pinning machine lately, so I figured I’d share what I’ve been loving and what’s been giving me inspiration. You can follow my master bathroom board here! So here we are, Week 1 of the remodel. This week I’m sharing our current space and the master bathroom remodel plans.

First things first. The folks that built our home must have been extremely short! My husband is just shy of 6 feet and has to duck to get in the shower and its to the right as soon as you walk into the bathroom. The shower will be switching spots with the tub to create a more cohesive flow.

To the left when you walk in is a closet so it’s another cluster of doors just like our Jack + Jill Remodel. So we’re getting rid of the closet entirely and replacing it with a linen cabinet to maximize storage and space.

My husbands vanity is right next to the closet between this massive waste of space we call a tub. These vanities lead a good life and it’s time for them to go. If they were taller we would have tried to salvage them with some good ol’ DIY. These things weren’t even 3 feet tall, they were so low to the ground.

That beautiful window right there is going to be encased in the shower and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

To the right of my vanity is the toilet room which is a must for us. I really like when builders create a closed of space for the toilet. With that, we are keep that closed. Initially, I wanted to put in a pocket door to maximize space. That wasn’t feasible due to the electrical wiring in that wall.

It’s so hard to get a decent photo in this room because the space is so small. We will either be putting in open shelving just like we have in the kitchen or I’ll build a small cabinet to match the linen cabinet we’re putting in place of the linen closet.

To the right of the toilet room is my walk in closet. I like the idea of having my closet access in the bathroom, but it just didn’t make sense for this layout. We will be cutting into my walk-in closet (eek, I know) to make room for our free standing tub! That wall right there will be knocked down too. PS – we’ll also be getting rid of the stipple ceilings! The last room in the house, thank goodness.

If you stuck around that long for this green monster bathroom, this is what we’ve got planned for the remodel.

Lots of neutral tiles with pops of matte black fixtures and wood vanities for a touch of warmth to the space. The bathroom already gets so much light we wanted to enhance that with white matte subway tiles and white walls.

We both really like the idea of keeping the single vanities, because having our own space in the bathroom makes for an ease of getting ready for the day.

It’s hard to say what the anchor piece is for this space, but I’d have to say it all started out with this steel frame shower I spotted scrolling through Pinterest. I knew right then that I needed that in our bathroom.

Stick around for more weekly updates and also some video updates! Yes, if you haven’t hear already I’m on YouTube by popular demand and will be sharing our remodel on there as well. If you aren’t subscribed to my channel, head on over so you don’t miss a beat in this remodel y’all!
