The master closet reveal is finally here! I have to preface, that we have 2 separate closets – so this is ALL FOR ME y’all! Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to finish the closet remodel in time to share my reveal with all the other One Room Challenge Guest Participants. However, I’m not a quitter so here we are a few weeks late but we are DONE.

Before

Yes, we have to go back! The best way to share a finished project is to remember what this room looked like before. If you remember this was the third time I’ve tried to remodel this closet of mine so we’ve seen a few different closets over the years.

You’re probably wondering why you’re seeing an outdated bathroom right now, well that door to the left was my closet opening. When we remodeled our bathroom I knew I didn’t want it to be in the bathroom anymore and instead wanted to use that space as extra square footage in the bathroom.

Yep, the door is no longer there! We moved it into our master bedroom to mirror my husbands closet door across the room.

The closet was the standard white wired closet which wasn’t my dream for a closet at all. In true Kourtni fashion I ripped it all out, added new paint and we replaced the carpets only to rip out half the carpet and cut out 3 feet and change the doorway.

The new closet entrance is along the back wall to the right in this photo.

Fast forward to being pregnant with my son, Cash this was the closet I was working with. That white patched up hot mess to the left is where the closet used to open into the bathroom.

This clothing rack was supposed to be temporary and I had used it since May of 2017. Holy cow!

My second attempt at remodeling the closet happened when I was pregnant and I wanted my dream closet, FINALLY! We went to IKEA and bought the PAX closet system to customize it and save some money on a built-in custom closet.

I got this far and then went on to do the One Room Challenge in Fall 2019 to complete a Nursery for Cash. We were able to finish that makeover the day before I went to the hospital! Then the closet sat on the back burner for 52 weeks. Yes you read that right, we left this project like this for an entire year before I touched it again.

 After

I’ve always wanted a custom built-in closet to my exact specifications including my shirt lengths, dress lengths, you name it. That may sound like overkill to some, but I’ve dreamt of this closet for years and getting to make my OWN dreams come true was the best early Christmas gift I could give myself.

Is it possible for a closet to look even bigger after making it smaller?! Yes. 100%.

I never knew I wanted a denim bar till I realized how much I love denim. After going through all of my clothes I had a lot of come to Jesus moment when I realized I DONT NEED THESE or I REALLY LIKE THESE.

My closet it 9 feet tall so there was quite a bit of storage above the clothing racks and below my denim bar. Initially I wanted to hang my hats on the wall, but it felt so cluttered and I’ve found that a few of my hats didn’t wear well after being hung on the wall for so long. So stacking my go-to hats here under the denim bar was perfect. It made them easily accessible for my 5′ self.

Art in the closet was a huge debate with Cody. He didn’t understand, but to me this wasn’t JUST any closet. Therefore, art was a must and there were no – “if ands or buts about it!”

Stacking hats may be my new hanging hats on the wall friends.

A persons closet is such a unique part of the home as we all like certain things a certain way and not everyone is the same. Cue having a vintage one of a kind rug in the closet from Revival. I knew I wanted a vintage rug in my closet and Revival lived up to the hype, because this guy is a beauty!

I will be completely honest when I say I thought the Crystorama light we picked out was way too big once I put it together and sat next to it being almost half my size. After Cody and I put it up in the closet it was like it was meant to be for this closet! We went with the Libby Langdon Sylvan 4 Light Dark Bronze Ceiling Mount

I’ve always wanted a chandelier in my closet, but I wasn’t into the crystals and I loved this one with the linen shades and bronze metal frame.

The stool, in other words my step stool to reach all my seasonal items in the baskets above!

We added drawer fronts to the IKEA Pax closet drawers for a more custom look since the drawers have a large gap between them and I really didn’t want to be able to see into the drawers while they were closed.

This was a project that if I could be h honest really emulated my design feelings into one entire project. A lot of the time when we’ve designed parts of our home we’ve remodeled we’ve always thought about “re-sale” and if OTHER people will like it. Well, this was for me and only me. Every detail was thought through extensively.

Thanks for all your support along the way and for helping me make decisions! I hope y’all love our  as much as we do! Cheers to another SOMEWHAT successful One Room Challenge in the books 😉

I want to give a BIG shout out to my AMAZING sponsors for making this all happen. They’ve been so great to work with and have provided some of the most gorgeous products. Woodgrain, Crystorama, and Revival.
