I’ve been keeping a secret and I’m so excited to share with all of y’all that we will be participating in the One Room Challenge again this Fall hosted by Better Homes & Gardens as a guest participant to transform our guest bedroom into a nursery for baby #2.

What is the One Room Challenge?

If you remember, I participated in the Spring 2019 One Room ChallengeIf and remodeled our laundry room! If you aren’t familiar with the One Room Challenge it’s put on twice a year (once in the Spring and once in the Fall). There are 20 amazing bloggers/designers that are hand picked as featured designers by the Better Homes & Garden Editors and then there are also guest participants, me! I’m one of a couple hundred guest participants attempting to design a room start to finish in ONLY 6 weeks!

Every participant chooses a single room and we will all be sharing weekly updates every Thursday! Be sure to subscribe so you can follow along every week.

Did I forget to mention I’m 34 weeks pregnant and my due date is the week of the One Room Challenge Reveal?! The fall ORC has always been up in the air for us since baby #2 could potentially make their arrival earlier than we are expecting due to baby measuring quite big!

Eclectic Gender Neutral Nursery

Many of you know that we DO NOT know the gender of our second baby, crazy right? We decided to wait until the birth to find out and decide on the name. Don’t worry though, we’ve got a couple names picked out for baby and will choose once he or she makes their arrival.

Since the gender is unknown we want to put together a gender neutral nursery and once we find out we’ll add a few little vintage touches to fit more gender specific. Now who’s ready to see this space?

BEFORE

When we walked through the house before putting an offer on it…WOW. This is what we were working with y’all! You can even spot a peak at what the jack and Jill bathroom used to look like before we remodeled.

DURING

Currently we have a guest room that is slowly turning into a drop zone again for just about everything these days! This space was on our list of the 8 projects we will complete in 2019. However, we were planning on sprucing the space up to make it more accommodating for guests. But what we didn’t know is that I was pregnant at the time when we were planning out our projects for the new year!

What’s great is that the guest bedroom is a jack and Jill bedroom. What’s that you ask? It’s a bedroom that’s connected to another bedroom with a bathroom in the middle. Liv’s bedroom is the other bedroom that’s attached to the bathroom, so this wing of the house will be all for the kiddos!

Gender Neutral Nursery Plans

This post is sponsored by Modern Nursery. All opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting the brands we truly love!

In partnership with Modern Nursery we’ll be revamping our guest bedroom into a gender neutral enclitic nursery. I really wanted to capture more earthy neutral tones for this room and I think all the woods we’re incorporating will be great. Did I mention that I’m doing an IKEA Hack and building ANOTHER barn door for this project?! It was supposed to be a small project since we’ve only got a few more weeks before baby makes their arrival, but I couldn’t resist!

Don’t worry, the DIY projects are short and sweet. Plus, hubs will be around to be my “design assistant” if I need any help thankfully!

We’re reusing the crib from Liv’s nursery and putting her in a big girl bed. We chatted so much about this over on instagram and we’ve decided to just take the plunge and make the transition to a big girl room, potty train and add a newborn to the mix. We like to “go big” around here if ya know what I mean!

  1. Hi! Love the transformation and the ikea hack. Do you know the paint color on the walls? Thanks
