The biggest question this week is, will we finish in time? We’re in the home stretch and there are still quite a few things left to be finished and we’re hoping that we will be able to pull through in time to finish the One Room Challenge!

If you want to go back and catch up on some of the previous updates on the Landry room remodel – here are the links.

Laying Laundry Room Tile

We officially have tile on the floor and on the wall! We still need to grout and fix a few finishing pieces, but heck that was rough. It was my first time tiling and the floor was kind of a nightmare. But, I wasn’t aware I chose a difficult tile to use as my first DIY tile job. Go figure, right?

The hubs helped me cut the hardi backer board and put it into place. I highly recommend a second set of hands if you’re laying tile in a smaller area so you don’t mess anything up!

Dry fitting all of tiles helped me make all of my cuts beforehand which helped with time. Especially since the mortar will dry quite quickly it’s better to do it beforehand. I even labeled all of the tiles by row and sub column. I’ll be sure to do a more in-depth tutorial on how to tile floor and walls for beginners!

This was definitely the funnest part – if that’s even a word – to mix the mortar! I felt like I was making cake batter for a huge wedding cake!
